IdiPLANa Jones, better known as DB Austen, graduated from Vassar College in 2025 with focuses in Architectural History and Urban Studies. His Thesis addressed the adaptive reuse of abandoned mental institutions and the architectural evolution of the suburbs, using his hometown of Glencoe as a case study. This blog is in many ways an extension of those works and functions as an outlet for knowledge acquired during his studies. His digital crusade aims to unearth and highlight historic structures through maps, plans, and written accounts. A particular emphasis is placed on historic structures in Illinois, New York, and Maine, where he has resided and discovered forgotten structures firsthand.
